HSCST
is conducting Science Popularisation programmes, for
students of the state on an annual basis. These programme
include State level Science quiz contests in which the
entire state is being covered starting from district
level, then zonal level and State level finals. The
essay writing Competition are being held for both college
and school students. Essays from the entire state are
invited, evaluated and then interviews are held. Very
attractive prizes are being distributed every year to
the winning students at a state level function held
at the end of the contests.

Special
Programme are being carried out on year to year basis
as announced by Department of Science & Technology,
NCSTC and Vigyan Prasar Govt. of India.
The year 2005 which was designated as the World Year
Of Physics was celebrated throughout the state and activities
like quiz, poster making and declamation contests were
conducted. The programme generated great interest among
the students regarding the life and achievements of
Albert Einstein in particular and other scientists in
general.

A
State Natural Resources Data Management System Centre
(NRDMS) has been established and is fully functional.
The main objective of the center is to increase the
efficiency of use of natural resources of the state
and districts through application of scientific management
principles for sustainable development. The center provides
facilities for creation of spatial data base which includes
both natural resources as well as socio-economic data
required for micro-level planning. The centre is
presently operating at Haryana State Remote Sensing
Application Center (HARSAC), Hisar.

HSCST
has set up a Centre for Research and Application in
Plant Tissue Culture (CRAPTC)in Ch. Charan Singh Haryana
Agricultural University (CCS HAU), Hisar.
Ø
HSCST has formulated the Biotechnology Policy of the
State of Haryana
to promote biotechnology in general and industry in
particular. A proposal for setting up Bio-Tech
Park is also
under consideration.
Ø
A
planetarium in memory of Late astronaut, Dr. Kalpana
Chawla has been set up at Kurukshetra with a total cost
of Rs.6.50 crore with a seating capacity of 120 pesons.
This project is a joint venture of the State and Centre
Govt. This prestigious project was inaugurated by Sh.
Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Hon'ble CM Haryana on 24th July,
2007 and has been operational since then.
